Start as you mean to go on Party plans for the day he turns one

Unbelievable but true, even though it only seems like a few weeks ago that you were cradling him in your arms for the first time, he is about to have his 1st birthday boy party. Remember the way he grasped your finger with the strength of a mighty man? Remember how you thought you would never take your eyes off him, not even for a minute, because he is the apple of your eye? And now look at him, attempting to do the wobbling walk and topple technique, and testing out a few words, if you can call them that. He’s well on his way to turning out to be an all round jolly good chap. You can hardly believe where the time has gone. Mind you, with a little guy like him around, with all his demands and needs, you’ve not had much time to sit down and twiddle your thumbs. When you are that busy, time really does fly. You want to mark the occasion with a baby’s birthday bash, and you want this 1st birthday boy party to go well, for the little chap himself as well as all his cute little friends, and their minders. Chances are it will end up a jelly throwing, temper tantrum fest for all, unless you organize it well. But where do you begin with the plans for such a momentous event?

The concentration span of a one year old child is not very long, so the main event at the 1st birthday boy party will probably be the food, apart, of course, from the gurgling communication between the little loves and eventually the crying and screaming, possibly from the grown ups. So, the table is expected to be the central point of the 1st birthday boy party, and it needs to be decorated in just the right way, brightly and colorfully to keep the little ones enthralled. With all the spillage and mess that is bound to occur as the little guys still struggle to remember where their mouths are, a plastic table cloth is possibly the most important item on your 1st birthday boy party list. With a bright red number 1 splashed across the middle, a 1st birthday boy party plastic tablecloth is both eye catching and practical, and if you purchase 2, you could cover the floor beneath the table too to catch all the messy drops of cake and jelly, crisps and drinks. Matching table accessories are a must for any discerning one year old 1st birthday boy party, and a set of 8 cups with a number one design, as well as a set of 8 funky square matching plates means that there will be no breakage of your own plates and, even more importantly, no washing up to do. After all, you’ll be on your hands and knees scrubbing the carpet for hours after all the little cherubs have gone home to their cots to dream about cakes. To wipe their little angel faces, there is also a matching set of 16 napkins. Presumably the extra 8 are for the parents and minders who will be indulging in a bit of 1st birthday boy party food too. Of course, before you get to the table decoration and adornment, you will need to invite your guests to the event of the year, so a set of matching invitations will bring them squealing with delight to your door. And to make sure that these small 1st birthday boy party guests turn up at the right venue, a lovely bright Happy Birthday Boy Banner, measuring 4.5 meters long, is big enough to stick across the front of the house exterior or in the 1st birthday boy party room to give it that special birthday party atmosphere.

Once the diminutive guests have arrived and eaten everything in sight, you will need something bright and colorful to keep them amused. To make this 1st birthday boy party one to remember, a Number 1 Pinata in lovely garish colors will capture their attention, and you can stuff it to the brim with yummy sweets. The little people will not believe their eyes when they see all those goodies just waiting to be nibbled. After all his little friends have left him all alone, a lovely touch to cheer him up is a 1st birthday boy party helium balloon with a huge number 1 on its front. He will be fascinated with this floating balloon, and will probably insist on taking it to bed with him. Just remember to tie it to something heavy in order to prevent it from floating up to the ceiling or you may find yourself woken at 3 in the morning by a very fractious one year old who can not reach its string.

San Francisco Fun Activities For Christmas Holidays

Every family in the world has its own activities and traditions for the Christmas holidays. There are a lot of fun-filled activities in which family members can participate during the yuletide season. Such activities can help members bring closer, relate more to each other, break quarrels and feuds, and manifest the true meaning of Christmas. Most activities are way too old for the current generation, but the general idea of doing such activities lingers, which is to enjoy Christmas holidays together with the family.

One of the well-loved San Francisco fun activities for Christmas is baking. Here, you could share family stories and thoughts with your parents or sons or daughters while spending your time in the kitchen baking cookies, cakes and pies for the Christmas Eve. Another benefit of doing this fun activity is that secret recipes and techniques can be passed on from parent to child while having a great time in the kitchen.

By passing on secret recipes and baking techniques, it is assured that the traditional recipes and cooking methods of your family do not get lost in transition. You could take your time on recording special recipes and the interesting stories behind each, and then try to gather all of them into a cookbook for the entire family. If possible, try to include illustrations or photographs regarding the discovery of the recipe or the method, or how it is done by the family members.

Christmas carols are one of the founding traditions of Christmas and must not be left out on the list of San Francisco fun activities for Christmas. Even though carols might seem to be a little tiresome over those that are readily played on music players, singing Christmas songs together with the entire family on the living room is a fun way to spend hours left before Christmas Day. You could create a song book filled with all-time favorite Christmas carols and hymns. You could also go outdoors and sing for your neighbors along with your family. Singing for the neighborhood could give you and your family gifts and treats from the people in your community while enjoying the spirit of Christmas.

You could also try to make gingerbread men and houses together with your family. Stuff made out of gingerbread is not so difficult to make. You could make use of graham biscuits and frostings bought at stores, as well as different candies and sweets such as chocolate chips, peppermints and jellybeans. As a family, you could try and spend time building your “dream house”, along with miniaturized gingerbread men of each family member. The gingerbread house could serve as the centerpiece of the dinner table for Christmas or as a decoration under the Christmas tree.

Perhaps, the most important of all the San Francisco fun activities and traditions for Christmas is the trimming and decoration of the Christmas tree. You and your family can make your own Christmas tree, set it up in the living room, decorate it, and trim it up. While doing the activity, you could prepare some hot chocolate or tea and delicious treats for each family member. You could share stories while working out on the Christmas tree and make it memorable by topping it off with the star.

An Effortlessly cool party

Tea Party gatherings have been carried through many generations in British tradition. It is a favorite past time of both women and children, men too were invited at times. These events were celebrated during the afternoons as a way for housewives to bond with other housewives as well. The children also participated by having miniature tea sets and dolls to play with.

The attendees go over the hosts’ home to have tea and coffee. Cake, sandwiches, biscuits and other pastries were also enjoyed as well. The highlight of the event was for the Madame’s to lavishly decorate their array of china and tapestry. The sugary concoctions were served with the most scrumptious cakes that were prepared by the host and stored for the afternoons’ event.

To date, these social gatherings have evolved and became greatly accepted not only in Europe but also in America and the rest of the world also. The preparation has also become more convenient with the vast improvement of storing and cooling technology. Meaning the food served doesn’t have to be made an hour earlier before the party starts to keep it fresh as process chillers are already available to keep food fresh longer. Pastry shops are the number one source of baked goods in these modern times as there aren’t really anymore housewives that stay home to prepare as much as in the olden times.

Process chiller refrigerants has been the backbone of most bakeshops as it is used to cool procedures involved in Chocolate cooking and confectionary making. Cake display areas also use the process cooling technology, wherein heat is removed and the temperature is lowered with the help of liquid cooling techniques. There are also many used chillers refrigerants which can be bought for household use. Such chillers can be used for wine, pastry display and deli storage. Although some might seem anxious about troubleshooting, there are many chiller maintenance services available in reputable chiller solution establishments.

With today’s options of food storage and selection, there is so much one can bring and serve at a tea party. So not only will there be a showcase of fine porcelain but also an addition of delectable cakes, cheese and pastry that have been kept fresh effortlessly by the hostess.

Can Anyone Be An Interior Designer?

The truth is that there is a first time for everything so in answer to the question, “can anyone be an interior designer”? Yes you can with a caviat. That is that you must understand that the first time for anything is considered practice. In most lines of work and crafts, the first practice run is generally relegated to the scrap heap.

But you’ve been living in homes your entire life! Living right in the middle of what you’re about to undertake. So doesn’t that qualify you to some degree? The simple answer to that is yes it does, to some degree. About as much as the fact that you are the owner and driver of a motor vehicle qualifies you to be an automotive designer.

There are several problems that the novice tends to run up against in do it yourself interior design scenarios and the very first of these tends to be communication. They simply lack the required linguistic knowledge of techniques and materials to adequately communicate with materials suppliers and various workers.

So they do the best that they can by pointing at pictures and describing what they hope are applicable techniques that they may be familiar with but inevitably they come up short. Perhaps you can recall attempting to communicate with your mechanic when your car was in the shop? It’s basically the same thing.

Another problem that the novice tends to run into, beyond their limitations regarding communication, is their general lack of knowledge regarding the variety of materials. Perhaps they have seen something in a magazine that they like but they don’t have the slightest notion of what went into creating it. Just imagine trying to bake a cake if you didn’t know what flour and sugar were?

This particular holds true today when it comes to paints and painting techniques. The problem with painting is that the paint supplier down at your local hardware store can make it sound all to simple. Who can blame him? He wants to sell you some paint and then sell you some more when you have to go through and redo your project.

Modern residential decorative painting has evolved in some quarters to the level of becoming an art from. In fact specialist in the area of decorative painting are highly sought after not just for their work but for their knowledge as consultants on projects. Perhaps you may have already seen layering wall painting techniques that involve colors and textures that are applied in succession?

However; the worst limitation to the would be do it yourself interior designer, is a lack of knowledge as it relates to general building and finish carpentry techniques. Even if they have an idea what looks good, they are completely blocked out when it comes to things like crown and base moulding. It’s also the same thing when it comes to things like cabinets and counter tops.

Of course you can have crown moulding and cabinets installed in your project. However; in the end, due to your limitations when it comes to knowledge of materials, techniques, building framework etc., the finished results will be less than. Less than those that can be attained from a professional who’s completely familiar with all options and knows how to communicate them in “exacting detail” to those who are doing the actual work.

Mini Cooking

No house would be perfect without food in the cupboard or a spread on the table, and a dollhouse is no different. To actually create the impression of a tiny world, food is a prerequisite, and making small food precisely for the purpose of a dollhouse is a popular past time for many adults and children.

Now, you could have read that and had visions of making an attempt to fry a small portion of egg in a frying pan, but fear not. The concept is simply to create things that look like food, not essentially edible mini meals itself – even for the most dedicated dollhouse enthusiast that would be taking things a little far! Instead, making food for a dollhouse is no different a technique to making a chair or a rug. Cooking for a dollhouse gives the entire creation a new edge, and it needn’t be as hard as you may imagine.

The options for small dollhouse food are, quite simply, unending. If you have a particularly ornate and and historic dollhouse, perhaps even a traditional Victorian set up, then perhaps something like a tea and cake party is appropriate. Or perhaps you would like to add a fruit bowl to complete off the look of a dining suite, or maybe small tins to put in cupboards. The chances are endless; all you need is a little patience and a willingness to pass some time perfecting the look.

If you like a challenge, then the cake party scene is an ideal place to start. It also has the advantageous of never being officially finished; you can keep adding to it as your talents improve. The goal is to form little cakes to go on any china dishes you could have, that will show off the entire dollhouse to great effect.

This may be in the shape of an actual, full size item to work from ; this could give you an idea of the shape and look you are trying to recreate, even tho in a smaller size. If you have seen an extremely beautiful cake, you will find a picture and attempt to repeat it precisely – this is massively preferable to making an attempt to work from memory, as this is where errors can occur.

There are several reasons for polymer clays enduring role in making small food ; it is durable, easy to use, simple to find and purchase, simple to work with and it comes in a variety of colors. It is possible to construct a whole cake – including sponge base, icing and finishing touches – using nothing but polymer clay. It is from this most useful of materials that the majority of small food is formed, and for excellent reasons ; it also gives a very lifelike finish to whatever you make.

With a little time and patience, a good quantity of polymer clay and some real life inspiration to work from, soon miniature food fit for a king will be served.

And for brightening up your real table, use nora fleming decorative china dishes.

Learn How To Level Up Quickly In Cafe World–Power Leveling In Cafe World

When you start gaining a few levels in Cafe World, you’ll probably start to see that it’s a lot easier to accumulate coins than levels in the game. Pretty soon, most players have piles of coins that they can’t really spend. It would be awesome if there was a way to convert those coins into Cafe Points (CP) so that you could level up faster, wouldn’t it? Well, guess what? There is! It’s a technique called power leveling and it’s pretty simple, although time-intensive, to do.

What you do is repeatedly prepare and then delete a dish on one of your stoves. Because each dish gives a certain amount of Cafe Points during preparation ( 3 “rounds” of a small amount), you’ll get CP without waiting for the dish to fully cook. All you do is prepare the dish, and then immediately delete it and start over. If you do it enough times, you’ll eventually get enough CP to level, having essentially converted your coins into Cafe Point.

Note that you only need to do this on one stove. There’s really no benefit to using multiple stoves to do this trick as it doesn’t save time. In fact, you’ll want to keep those other stoves busy with preparing dishes and earning more coins for you to keep on power leveling.

Certain dishes are much better suited to this technique than most others. What you want to look for is a high ratio of “preparation” Cafe Points to cost of the dish. Another factor, of course, is time. It takes about 20 seconds to prepare and delete a dish, and unless you want to be clicking all day, you want to pick a dish that doesn’t require very many preparations to get you the Cafe Points you need to level.

So which dishes are best? Well, there are a few choices at each level. Here’s some of my favorites for each level “group” starting with level 20, which is approximately the point at which you’re earning enough coins to spend them freely.

Levels 21-30: The average number of CP you need to level in this range is about 3,000. Your best recipe to use here is the Homestyle Pot Roast which brings in 60 CP per preparation. At this level range, you’ll need to do about 50 preps per level. On average, it will cost you 90,000 coins to get each level and take about 16 minutes to do it (each preparation cycle is about 20 seconds long). If you want a cheaper alternative, try using Voodoo Chicken Salad. It will only cost about 58,000 coins but takes about 28 minutes to level.

Levels 31-40: Here it takes an average of 5,500 CP for each level. The best recipe to use here is King Crab Bisque which will cost about 132,000 coins per level and takes 34 minutes on average to complete. Voodoo Chicken Salad remains the best cheap option. It will only cost about 107,000 coins per level, but you’ll need 51 minutes for each level.

Levels 41-50: The average CP to level in this range is 9,300. King Crab Bisque remains the most balanced option for power-leveling here, but it starts to lose some of its effectiveness. It will cost you an average of 260,000 coins per level and take about an hour. For a lot of players at this level, money is less of an issue. A more expensive option here is to go with Chicken Pot Pie. It will cut the time down to about 47 minutes but the cost is just under 500,000 coins. Spent too many coins on those cafe decorations? Good old Voodoo Chicken Salad remains a great option with less cost. You’ll need a solid 86 minutes on average, but it will only cost you about 180,000 coins per level.

Delicious…and a power leveler’s best friend.

Level 51-60:
Here’s where your options start to open up a bit. The best power leveling recipe in the game is Delicious Chocolate Cake which becomes available at level 52. In this range, you need about 13,000 CP per level, and the cake will get you there in one hour with a cost of 235,000 coins per level. From level 50-52, go with Grand Tandoori Chicken, which costs quite a bit more but is nearly as fast. If you’re still watching coins carefully, King Crab Bisque works well until you hit level 52.

Level 61+

From here, it’s all about the Delicious Chocolate Cake. At the higher levels, it takes a whopping 30,000 Cafe Points to move to each new one. So, things do slow down a bit and cost more. Each new level will take roughly two hours and twenty minutes to power through and it will cost about 540,000 coins to get there. However, at this point in the game, you’re probably sitting on a huge pile of coins!

If you want to level quickly in Cafe World and find out more Cafe World cheats , I definitely suggest you to have a look at the Cafe World Domination guide right after this article. Cafe World Secrets focuses on creating a good time line that will allow you to play the game as best as possible without wasting huge chunks of effort. For me, that was a massive boost. In short, if you’re a casual player without much need for a guide, feel free to move on. If you’re like me though and need to be the best as much as possible, you should check out Cafe World Secrets, because it’s easily one of the best around.

These are used partly for fun and partly believing that they represent the souls of departed elders who protect houses from evil spirits. Ac cording to an Irish folk tale, the soul of a dishonest farmer called Jack wanders the earth burning amber inside a vegetable. The Jack-o-lantern is supposed to have been named after him.

WHAT IS QUASI-RESONANCE?

A ‘quasi-resonant’ DC to DC converter with zero-current and zero-voltage switching includes a transformer with primary and secondary windings, and periodic switching means connected in series with the primary winding. The topology of the converter is determined by selecting an input capacitor with a capacitance much lower than the output capacitor.

WHO IS AN EXCEPTOR?

An exceptor is a person who chooses to eat meat on special occasions. A vegetarian by habit, the exceptor makes exceptions for days like weddings, festivals and celebrations. After the vegan, eggetarian and flexitarian, it is the exceptor who is basically vegetarian, but makes changes in diet to suit the occasion.

WHAT IS THIGMOTROPISM?

Thigmotropism is the growth of a plant around a support. Tropism is a phenomena by which a plant, usually climber like money plant and ivy, responds to a stimulus. Stems of the pea plant, for instance, are weak and have coil-like structures called tendrils. When tendrils approach a support (stick), a phytohormone called auxin is released in the side of the tendril away from the support. Auxin, a growth hormone, elongates the cells of that portion and makes it strong. The other portion, devoid of auxin, becomes weak and coils around the support.

WHY DO THE EYES OF SOME ANIMALS GLOW IN THE DARK?

Some animals have a special, reflective surface right behind their retinas, called the tapeturn lucidum, which helps animals see better in the dark. When light enters the eye, it hits a photoreceptor that transmits the information to the brain. But sometimes light doesn’t hit the photoreceptor, so the tapetum lucidum acts as a mirror to bounce it back for a second chance.

WHY DON’T WE FEEL THE TONES OF ATMOSPHERIC PRESSURE?

Atmospheric pressure, which is about 1 kg per’sqcm of area, presses down on our body from all sides, but we don’t feel it as it is balanced by fluid pressure from inside our body We can feel the difference during rainy season or when we go. to places where atmospheric pressure is less, like hill stations, where due to higher fluid pressure, blood oozes out in blood vessels, making the skin over those pink. The reverse happens under water.

WHY DO FOOD PACKAGES CARRY KCAL WHEN THEY ACTUALLY SPECIFY CALORIES AND NOT KILO-CALORIES?

Kilocalories are commonly known as calories and abbreviated as kcal. One calorie (Kcal) has the same energy value as 4.186 kilojpules-(kJ), while one kilojoule is equivalent to 0.24 calories. One calorie contains the amount of energy that raises the temperature of one litre of water by 1 degree Celsius.

WHAT IS SPIDER SILK?

Spider silk, also known as gossamer, is a protein fibre spun by spiders. Spiders use their silk to make webs. They can also suspend themselves using it. Many small spiders use silk threads for ballooning, the scientific term for the dynamic kiting spiderlings (mostly) used for dispersal. They extrude several threads into the air and let themselves get carried away with upward winds.

WHAT IS A SICK-OUT?

A sick-out is concerted action by a group of employees, who call in sick to protest against the company and its policies. It is meant to hold the company to ransom. In ordinary language, it is a strike to show the power they hold over the company’s working. It is a slightly more devious method than taking to the streets openly and raising slogans. Employees hope to put pressure on the company and force it to meet their demands.

WHAT IS UNBREAKABLE GLASS MADE OF, AND IS IT REALLY UNBREAKABLE?

The presence of micro cracks on the glass surface (called Griffith’s micro cracks) makes glass breakable under tension or impact. Such micro cracks are unavoidable as the glass surface comes under tension while cooling from a high temperature into various shapes. However, one can increase its impact resistance by various methods, so it can withstand even the impact of a bullet. The idea is to remove the surface micro cracks by chemical etching, or putting the glass surface under compression by physical or chemical toughening. One can even laminate two such toughened glass plates with resin in-between. These glasses are unbreakable, but when the threshold value is very high, it eventually breaks or cracks.

WHAT IS UNIVERSAL TIME COORDINATED?

Universal Time Coordinated (UTC) is a time standard based on International Atomic Time with leap seconds added at irregular intervals to compensate for the Earth’s slowing rotation. A leap second is a positive or negative one-second adjustment to the UTC scale that keeps it close to Mean Solar Time at the Royal Observatory, Greenwich. The difference between UTC and Mean Solar Time is not allowed to exceed 0.9 seconds, so if high precision is not required, the general term Universal Time may be used. Time zones are expressed as positive or negative offsets from UTC. While each day contains 24 hours and each hour 60 minutes, the number of seconds in a minute can be 60,61 or 59.

HOW DO SENSOR DOORS WORK?

Sensor doors use motion sensors or presence sensors. The first are used to activate the door when it detects a moving object, such as a pedestrian or shopping cart. Motion sensors can distinguish between objects moving toward the door or away from it. They use microwave technology and utilize the Doppler Effect principle. The sensors emit a high frequency microwave signal — when the wave encounters a moving object, it bounces back and its frequency changes in proportion to the object’s speed; Presence sensors detect both moving and non-moving objects in the path of the door. Presence sensors use infrared technology — they emit an invisible pulsed light signal. The receiver looks for the reflected signal and reacts.

WHAT IS WEISURE?

Weisure time is when work is done during leisure time. With the line between work and leisure blurring thanks to online work and smartphones, a new work-life culture has been created. Sociologist Dalton Conley coined this word, having observed that 9-5 jobs are giving way to this new lifestyle.

WHO DISCOVERED COMETS? HOW IS THE TAIL FORMED?

Comets have been known to mankind since eons, hence it cannot be said that comets were discovered by any single individual. A comet, like planets and asteroids, orbits around the sun — with fee orbital period varying from a few years to thousands of years. A comet is formed of rock, ice, dust and a few frozen gases like carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide and methane. When a comet is close to the sun, the radiation from the sun causes the volatile matter in the comet to vaporize and spread out into space in the form of its tail, its dust particles and ions glowing due to sunlight falling on it.

WHAT IS HAY FEVER AND WHY IS IT SO CALLED?

Hay fever is a form of allergy belonging to a group of maladies including hives, asthma and skin problems caused by protein sensitization.During certain seasons, many plants, grasses release their pollens into the air in large quantities. A person is said to have hay fever when he/she is sensitive to these pollens and other substances present in the air. It is called hay fever because the symptoms of the disease appear during spring and fall in England.

HOW IS THE HEIGHT OF WATER TIDES PREDICTED?

As astronomical data is not sufficient to calculate tides, predictions are also based on actual tidal measurements in many areas, over ah extended period. A network of tide stations is equipped to take the following measurements every six minutes: tide levels, wind speed and direction, water current speeds, directions, air and water temperatures and barometric pressure. Stations that provide these daily predictions are called reference stations. Other stations are subordinate stations, which obtain predictions by applying a specific formula to this data. The formula is derived by observing how tides at the two stations related to one another in the past.

WHAT IS A MINSKIAN PONZI DEAL?

The Minskian Ponzi deal was a theory propounded by American economist Minsky, in 1986. Such deals are both unsustainable and hazardous. In Minsky’s view, periods of economic and financial stability lead to a lowering of investors’ risk aversion and a process of releveraging. Investors borrow excessively and push asset prices excessively high. In this process, there are three types of investors/borrowers. First, sound or hedge borrowers who can afford to pay on their own. Second, speculative borrowers who can only service interest payments out of their cash flows. Finally, there are Ponzi borrowers who can service neither interest nor principal payments, and need to keep on refinancing their debts.

Big hatcheries sex chickens as they have no use for male birds who are killed almost immediately. A sexer is trained to tell the chicks apart by their physical appearance and vents.

WHAT IS A SINKING FUND?

It is a fund set aside as a means to repay funds borrowed through a bond issue. The issuer makes periodic payments to a trustee who retires part of the issue by purchasing the bonds in the open market. Rather than the issuer repaying the entire principal of a bond issue on the maturity date, another company buys back a portion of the issue annually, and usually at fixed par value or at the current market value of the bonds, whichever is less. From the investor’s point of view, a sinking fund adds safety to a corporate bond issue: with it, the issuing company is less likely to default on repayment.

WHY IS A SWINE FLU MASK CALLED N95?
Respirators or N95 masks can block 95% small particles that contain the H1N1 virus, which causes swine flu. These are expensive and can be used only for a single day. These masks are made of three layers of electrostaticallycharged microfibres, that block 95% particles, thus the name N95.

Noise that is produced by combining sounds of different frequencies together is called white noise. Since it contains all frequencies, white noise is used to mask other sounds. When two or three people talk, our brain can distinguish the sound of a particular person. But if a crowd cheers in a stadium, no individual voice can be identified. That’s white noise and is most effectively used in the emergency siren.

WHAT IS INDUSTRIAL MELANISM?

It is caused when the natural environment of an organism is disturbed due to industrial pollution. As pollutants like soot and smoke darken the landscape, they disturb the environment of many organisms that rely on camouflage to avoid predation. This change makes them vulnerable to predators and creates a strong selective pressure due to which an organism with a darker colour is more likely to survive.

WHY DOES SNOW LOOK WHITE BUT WATER IS COLOURLESS?

Snow is a block of individual ice crystals arranged together. When a light photon enters a layer of snow, it goes through an ice crystal on the top, which changes its direction slightly and sends it on to a new ice crystal, which does the same thing. Basically, all the crystals bounce the light all around, so that it comes right back out of the snow pile. It does the same thing to all the different light frequencies, so all colours of light are bounced back out. The ‘colour’ of all the frequencies in the visible spectrum combined in equal measure is white, so this is the colour we see in snow.

HOW ARE ULTRA-VIOLET RAYS BLOCKED BY THE OZONE LAYER?

The ozone layer contains ozone molecules — 03 molecules — which are formed by the action of ultra-violet rays on atmospheric oxygen. This oxygen, which is 02, converts into 03 when UV rays fall on it. When these rays fall on the surface of the atmosphere, they are absorbed in the conversion of oxygen into ozone. As a result, ultra-violet rays are blocked by this ozone layer.

HOW IS THE TEMPERATURE OF A STAR MEASURED?

As stars are very far away, their temperatuce cannot be measured directly. Fortunately, the light coming from stars can be analyzed through several scientific instruments. Although all stars appear white, they have different colours when carefully viewed. The variations are a result of their temperature — cold stars appear red, and hot ones blue or white. The colour of a star is measured by an instrument called photoelectric photometer, which involves passing the light through different filters and finding the amount that passes through each filter. The measures from the photometer are converted to temperature, using standard scales.

Such stores aim to prevent any intervention by middlemen and requires buyers to make their own arrangements and assume all risk.

HOW DOES HAIR GEL WORK?

The main ingredient in hair gels is a plastic called PVP, which is a polymer sealer. The polymers in PVP are dissolved in water or alcohol and form a clear film between each hair strand, attaching them to one another. Chemical experts call this “capillary power” because it’s similar to how blood capillaries work. When gel is applied to wet hair, the PVP or similar ingredient absorbs water quickly. When the gel dries completely, it forms a fixed connection between hair strands.

WHAT IS A WORMHOLE?
